Top 10 Favorite Artists (for now!)

Considering that my favorites songs and favorite artists/bands change pretty much twice a week, I have a feeling I'll be doing this countdown again in a couple of weeks. But here you have it! Here's my top 10 favorite artists/bands.

John, Paul, George, and Ringo
10. The Beatles

You just can't go wrong with the classics. The Beatles will always be in my top ten, although they may change position on the list. They're currently number 10 because their music is generally happy and recently I've been in a rather melancholy mood. My favorites songs include: "She Loves You," "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," "Eight Days A Week," "Ticket to Ride," "Eleanor Rigby," "Yellow Submarine," "Yesterday," and "Here, There, Everywhere." In my iTunes library, I have songs from 7 albums, three of which are complete. The albums are (in alphabetical order): 1, A Hard Day's Night, Abbey Road, Please Please Me, Revolver, Rubber Soul, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Once again, The Beatles will always be among my favorites. The boys will always live on.

9. Newsboys -

Lots of memories with these guys. I remember jamming out to their "Steppin' Up To the Microphone" album in the late 90s/early 2000s, when I was little. While Peter Furler and Phil Joel are no longer in the band, I do enjoy a few of their new songs. But Peter Furler was always awesome. He wore eyeliner that rivaled Captain Jack Sparrow. A lot of their songs had a great techno/punk rock feel to them, which is pretty much my favorite genre. My favorite songs include: "Hallelujah," "Entertaining Angels," "WooHoo," "Reality," "Born Again," and "Love Liberty Disco." Apparently Peter Furler has his own album coming out. I'm really excited to hear it.

Soul Glow Activatur, Crouton, Fatty,
Nadaddy, and Chap Stique
8. Family Force 5 -

Not gonna lie. FF5 is one of the weirdest bands ever. They are known for their crazy haircuts and wearing girls' pink skinny jeans. But they have some awesome music. I think I first listened to them my freshman year in high school. First song I heard was "Love Addict," which is still one of my favorites songs. They were playing the music video at my youth group.... Imagine my shock/disturbance when I look up at one of the big screens, and this giant pair of fire engine red, sparkly lips (LIPS ONLY) are singing/screaming: "HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE, PUT A LITTLE LOVE IN IT!" Yeah, I was a little disturbed. But Family Force 5 quickly became one of my favorite bands. Their music brings back a lot of memories. I currently own 2 of their albums: "Business Up Front/Party In the Back" and "Dance or Die." My favorite songs are: "Love Addict," "Lose Urself," "Radiator," "Get Your Back Off the Wall," and "Replace Me." I highly recommend FF5 to anyone that loves techno, hard rock, crunk, or any combination of the 3.

The artist known as Katy Perry, previously
known as Katy Hudson.
7. Katy Perry -

Originally, I wasn't that big of a fan of Katy. The first song I heard by her was "I Kissed A Girl" (classic, huh?). Anyway, I really like her more recent stuff. Her music videos can be a little weird just like Lady Gaga (have you seen the one for "California Girls"? Lesson: Just say no to cupcake bikini tops). Sometimes the colored wigs get a little obnoxious as well, but I do like the purple one as shown on the right. While I don't own any albums by Katy, I have purchased several songs. My all time favorite song by Katy, as well as one of my all time favorites songs period, has got to be "E.T." If you haven't heard it, go to YouTube and listen to it. But don't watch the music video. It has stupid little rap interludes with Kanye "Imma let you finish" West. It's an absolutely awesome song and I listen to it pretty much every day. I suggest you do the same.

David Cook
6. David Cook -

So..... I haven't watched "American Idol" in years. However, I was watching "The Soup," and Joel was telling about the finale with the two Davids. And as soon as David said "Chicks, man..." ("Let's talk about chicks, man!" "Chicks, man...") I was in love. I listened to a few of his songs from his self-titled album on YouTube, then went to Walmart to buy it as soon as it was possible. "David Cook" is the only album he's released as far as I know. You'd think that we would've heard about another album considering he won "American Idol." Anyway, I really enjoy David's sound. My favorite songs by him are: "Eleanor Rigby" (cover of The Beatles), "Time of My Life," "Heroes," and "Come Back to Me."

Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland,
Guy Berryman, and Will Champion
5. Coldplay -

Oh my gosh I love the British. They're so awesome. They've given us Hugh Laurie, "Doctor Who," fun words like "gob smacked," and Coldplay. I think the first song I heard by them was either "Fix You" or "Clocks." But it was ages ago so I can't particularly remember. Anyway, whenever I'm feeling melancholy I listen to Coldplay. They're music is very melancholy, yet I find it to be very inspirational and uplifting at times. I own all four of their albums: "Parachutes," "A Rush of Blood to the Head," "X&Y," and "Viva La Vida/Death and All His Friends." I read something about another album being released sometime this year, and I am UBER excited to say the least. Coldplay is amazing. My favorite songs are: "Viva La Vida," "A Message," "Clocks," "Yellow," and "Talk."

John Rzeznik, Robby Takac, and
Mike
4. The Goo Goo Dolls -

I didn't realize Goo Goo Dolls had been around for so long until this past spring when I was listening to "Black Balloon" and my colleague said "Aren't you a little young to be listening to Goo Goo Dolls?" Haha. Anna's hysterical. Anyway, while I only own two albums by them, I absolutely love Goo Goo Dolls. They can be melancholy but also inspiring like Coldplay. "Black Balloon," also one of my favorite songs, can easily make me cry. My other favorite songs are: "Let Love In," "I'm Still Here," "Iris," and "Name."

Lady Gaga
3. Lady Gaga -

Yeah, I'm probably gonna get a lot of crap about this one, but I can't help it. I love Gaga. Yeah, she's weird. I'm not gonna fight you on that one. But her lyrics are very powerful if you take the time to listen. She is one of the few female artists today that have an actual voice underneath the auto-tune and all that electronic junk. Artists should use those technologies to either improve their voice or to change it to get a new sound, not to hide the fact that they have no voice. I only own "The Fame" on disc, but I own most of "The Fame Monster," and a few songs from "Born This Way." My favorite songs by Lady Gaga are: "Born This Way," "Poker Face," "Telephone,"   "Paper Gangsta," and "Dance In the Dark."

Jen Ledger, Ben Kasica,
John Cooper and Korey Cooper
2. Skillet -

Skillet has been one of my favorite bands for a really long time. Their music has gotten me through thick and thin. They seem to have a song for any feeling that I'm experiencing. Their songs make me cry, they make me happy, they make me sing, they make me rock. They truly are one of the most inspirational bands I have ever listened to. I own their most recent albums, "Collide," "Comatose," and "Awake." I would, however, like to get some of their earlier albums such as "Alien Youth" and "Invincible." My favorite songs by them are: "Would It Matter," "Hero," "Falling Inside the Black," "Rest," "Monster," and "Whispers In the Dark."

And my number 1 favorite artist (currently) is.... *drumroll*

Adam Lambert
1. Adam Lambert -

*sigh* I just love this boy. I know he's another one of those that people are gonna be like "Ew, he's gay," "He wears eyeliner," "He's so emo," yada, yada, yada. Personally, I like to judge musical artists by their musical talents as opposed to their sexual orientation or whether or not they wear eyeliner. Shoot, Elton John was gay, and he is one of the greatest song composers of all time. It makes no difference. Adam is a great singer, and I love his music. I cannot wait until he comes out with another album. My favorite songs by him are: "Sleepwalker," "No Boundaries," "Whataya Want From Me," "If I Had You," and "Aftermath."

So ladies and gents, who are your favorite musical artists? What are your favorite songs by them and why?

My Top 10 Favorite Disney Men

Okay, as terrible as it may sound, Disney guys are GORGEOUS. And I'm not talking about the nancy boys like Zac Efron or Mitchell Musso (although I will say that David Henrie and Rickey Ullman are pretty nice to look at). I'm talking old school, animated, Disney boys. Back when Disney movies were awesome and didn't suck. So what I am about to present to you is a top 10 list of (in my opinion) the hottest Disney boys. They are as follows:

Aw, c'mon girl! Gimme a hug!
10. Prince Phillip from "Sleeping Beauty" -

Okay, I gotta be honest. I don't remember the last time I watched "Sleeping Beauty," which is a darn shame, because I know it's a classic (both technically speaking and in my humble opinion). So my opinion of Phillip is very shallow and is based entirely on looks and his fighting skills (which are very hardcore, I might add). Soooo... like I said, I haven't watched the movie in years, so there isn't really much else I can say about Phillip, other than he's really cute and he's awesome with a sword.

 *blank staring into space*

9. Jim Hawkins from "Treasure Planet" -

Okay, so in addition to absolutely LOVING the story of "Treasure Planet," I immediately fell in love with Jim Hawkins like I do whenever I see any interpretation of "Treasure Island." His rebellious attitude, his adventurous nature, and his hair cut! I seriously cannot describe how much in love I am with Jim's hair. When I first watched "Treasure Planet" I was kind of 'meh' about it, but now I am in love with it. If you have not seen "Treasure Planet," (which many haven't since it wasn't extremely popular) then you need to so as quickly as possible. It's a great Disney movie, and one of the last really good ones. And of course, Jim is voiced by the absolutely GORGEOUS and talented Joseph Gordon-Levitt.... Excuse me while I get a mop for the puddle of drool I just made....

Let me be your wings....
8. Cornelius from "Thumbelina" -

Okay, before the trolls start hating ("FAKE AND GAY!!"), I'll go ahead and admit: "Thumbelina" is not a Disney movie. It was released by FOX. I, however, consider Cornelius to be one of the boys since "Thumbelina" was one of my favorite movies as a child. Sure, the dude does wear tights, which aren't exactly manly, but c'mon! Superman wears tights AND his underwear on the outside, and he's still awesome. So I think Cornelius can get away with the tights. The only thing I didn't like about Cornelius (and this was only at certain times) was his haircut. You know that little tuft (don't really know the word for it) of hair that sticks up on the top of his head? Makes him look like Alf-Alfa? Yeah, that really annoyed me as a kid. But other than that, love the guy. I mean, he can fly. How can you beat that?

He's climbin' in your windows...
7. Peter Pan from "The Importance of Being"-- I mean "Peter Pan" -

I've gotten some crap about my love for being in love with Peter Pan. Particularly because he's supposed to be a kid, so I end up being the butt of a bunch of pedophile jokes. But c'mon. Deep down, I'm pretty sure every little girl wanted to be Wendy. We all wanted Peter Pan to come to our windows at night and fly us away to Neverland (He's climbin' in your windows, snatchin' your people up!). He also has pointy ears, which are a major plus for me. He's got a dagger, which makes up for the fact that he, too, wears tights and also hangs out with a fairy who should be convicted of attempted murder. His eyebrows irritate me so badly though. Makes me want to lick my thumb and just smooth them down. But his hair makes up for eyebrow issue. I think he's the only ginger in Disney movie history, if you can even count him as a ginger. It's kinda reddish-brown/auburn color. But I digress. Bottom line, love the hair cut.

Say whuuuuuuuh???
6. Flynn Rider from "Tangled" -

Okay, I'll be honest. Because you know I'd never lie. Or maybe you don't. But I don't. So now you know...that I don't lie. What I'm trying to be honest about is that I have never seen "Tangled." *DUHN DUHN DUUUUHN* Yeah, I know. Shocker. But I really do want to see it. All I've seen are short little clips uploaded to YouTube. But what I HAVE seen of Flynn, I am in love with. I love his floppy hair, his very expressive eyes, and his little pout. The ending of "Tangled" (which I have seen) is so beautiful. Flynn's sacrifice for Rapunzel was just incredible. But just as with Prince Phillip, since I haven't seen "Tangled," I will limit my opinion on Flynn since it's really just based on looks (a great foundation for any relationship, right?). So, my shallowness and I will be moving on...

Ho, don't be gettin' crazy...
5. Dimitri from "Anastasia" -

Easy, easy, trolls. Yeah, I know. "Anastasia" is another FOX movie. *Trolls: "FAKE AND GAY!"* Yeah, I know. Shaddup. So, yeah, Dimitri is just a flat out good-looking animated guy, as far as animated guys go. I've always wondered what he would sound like if he actually had a Russian accent. Or is he even supposed to be Russian? The movie takes place in Russia, and everyone but him and Anastasia sound Russian... ANYWAY, moving on. I guess Dimitri's the only other guy that you could consider to be a ginger other than Peter Pan. Again, it's like reddish-brown, but with lots of red. My conclusion: Dimitri = smexy.

Deeeerrrrrrpp....
4. Tulio from "The Road to El Dorado" -

Yes, trolls. Another not-Disney movie. "El Dorado" came to us courtesy of Dreamworks Pictures. For those of ya'll who haven't seen "El Dorado," (SINNER!!!), Tulio is the one on the left in the picture on the right. Miguel (the blonde) is plenty smexy as well, but Tulio has always been my favorite. Several things about Tulio appeal to me. (1.) His sarcastic nature and wit; (2.) His generally pessimistic outlook.; and (3.) His ponytail (I have a thing for guys with long hair! Sue me.) He's also the man with the plan. And he's just freakin' hysterical. "I will give you the honor of a quick and painless death! *tiny sword* 0.0* But not with that." I also love the fact that he's supposed to be Spanish (given that his name is Spanish) and his accent is American more than anything. And of course, Miguel's English of all things.... LOL

What's this "Slumdog Millionaire" you speak of?
3. Aladdin from "Aladdin" -

Aladdin's got it all. He's got the looks, he's got the bod, he's got the voice, and the genie, and the monkey... You really just can't top Aladdin....well except with guys 1 and 2. The sequels weren't nearly as good as the original, however, "King of Thieves" was so much better than "Return of Jafar." One thing that really pissed me off was that Aladdin's voice seemed to get higher with each movie, particularly in his singing. He's also a great fighter and excellent at coming up with plans. And other than his little issue with lying to his woman, he really is a great guy.

Doggy helps me look smexy!
2. Prince Eric from "The Little Mermaid" -

"Little Mermaid" has always been a staple movie in our house. It's been a classic since the beginning. Not only a phenomenal story with even more phenomenal music, but "Mermaid" is also home to some amazing characters. It makes me sad that there were sequels, which always ruin everything. Anyway, Eric? Where do I start? *sigh* Such a handsome guy, and such a great example of what a boyfriend should be. I always get chills when he says "I lost her once. I'm not gonna lose her again." And he jumps back onto the burning ship to save his doggy. Any guy that will risk his life for his dog is top notch in my book. He's also got that general look that I love in a guy: dark hair, blue eyes. Very Matt Bomer. Don't even get me started on my obsession with him...

And, the number one hottest Disney boy is..... *drumroll*

I'm too sexy for my shirt...
1. Hercules from "Hercules" -

TADA! Yep this is my boy. I absolutely love Hercules. Pretty much my all time favorite Disney movie. I honestly can't really describe my obsession with him. Even though a lot of girls don't like him since he's a little bit awkward at times, I'm just in absolute love with him. His voice, his strength, his face, his hair, his little cape thingy. *sigh* And of course he is a true hero. He was willing to give up his life to save his woman. Now that is a real man.

So, tell me guys. Who's you're number one favorite Disney guy and why? Was it about him that makes you smile and giggle and makes you go weak in the knees? If you're brave enough, give me your top five, or argue why my list is wrong! I dare ya.... ;)

THIS SPACE IS DEDICATED TO INTERNAL MONOLOGUE

The page in my "Wreck This Journal"
that started it all...
So many memories. So many memories, I can't remember them all. I wish I was a fish, so I could fly away on a jet pack. Rainbows make me feel angry. I have nightmares about not having my school books for class. I received books in the mail today. Maybe my nightmare won't come true. Amazon is a girl's best friend. I want your love and I want your revenge. You and me could write a bad romance. Love, love, love, I want your love. I like penguins. And ketchup. Don't read too far into that. That'd be awkward. So don't be exactly half of an eleven pound black forrest ham and read too much into my love for penguins and ketchup. Did you know that Africa is a continent and Pluto is no longer a planet? That makes me sad. What did Pluto ever do to deserve that? It's racism. Pure racism. That's messed up. And that's wrong. Have you ever looked at the word "wrong" and thought "What de fluff?" It's a funny word. So is pickle. How did man discover the ability to pickle stuff? My gum tastes good, even after chewing it for an hour and a half. My stomach is making funny noises because I didn't eat dinner. My shoe is starting to look tasty. That's a problem. I wish I were an icon, like Chuck Norris. Or Mr. Rogers. Or the Verizon guy. Then I would never chew on my foot. If ninja turtles were, hypothetically (I love that word) speaking, were real, my life would be complete. For real. I just popped my neck. It hurt. My knee sock is making my knee itch, and that is really uncomfortable. Orlando Bloom and Billy Boyd are on my wall. Be jealous. Actually, don't. Because that's a sin. Actually, no. Strike that, reverse it. It's a sin to envy. I lied about jealous being a sin.... Crap. This sucks. I'm listening to "Sweet Child O Mine" by Guns N Roses. What does the "O" stand for? I found out tonight that Bob Hope was a hundred years old when he died seven years ago. That dude was old. Like, for real. This is harder than I expected. That's what she said. But I was actually referring to writing all of this down. It's cold outside, but there's no snow. And that sucks. It's not fair. My face itched, but I scratched it. I didn't scratch my knee when it itched. My name's not Ross. I have a spork in front of me, and that's not a figure of speech. Ke$ha is a strange person with a peculiar obsession with glitter. But she always looks like a hobo in her music videos. A glittery hobo. Wow. That's awesome. I'm craving an iced chai tea latte from Starbucks. A BIG one. X-Men 3 really sucked. Brett Ratner sucks. I definitely agree with Matthew Thomas Provencal on that one. Would you rather be a pirate or a ninja? I'd rather be a ninja turtle. Because that would be amazing. Amazing like a s'more....more like amazing like a Girl Scout cookie. Thin Mints and Samoas are BEAST..... You sly dog! You got me monologuing!
